There is just a few ways to do dials in the classical materials: Enamel or Guilloché. The Guilloché started in 16th century and was only possible with the evolution of the mecanics.  Enamel is coming from midel-age. (around 9th century in Europa) originally practiced by the Scythes two milleniums ago. In the beginning the enamel dials were hand-painted. Today it's only for art pictures and not for numbers. Stampds dials are still produced a lot and their bad reputation is not totally true... Since wery long time the coins are stamps... this is an antique way to make things.

En 1661 les premières montres avec aiguille des minutes aparaissent.
1675, invention du spiral par Huygens. Le foliot, que nous avons vu dans l'article précédent disparaitra complètement des montres portées et donnera une meilleures précision. La même année la sonnerie à répétition est inventée (connaître l'heure exacte à la demande dans le noir).

In 1661 the minute hand starts to appear.
In 1675, the spiral is discovered by Huygens. The old system, foliot, will disappear in pocket watches. The spiral brings more precision. The same year is created the repetition watch that allows us to know the time even in the dark.
